week8: Resolving cooperation issues

Problems:

  1. Export animation to fbx mode unable to bake complex animation and lose part of animation in fbx

Solution:

change the model, delete controllers and do the animation again for some plants

2. Error when putting growth and wave animations together into unity when the animation is working fine in FBX.

Solution:

I did wave and growth animation in seperate files, so I need to make sure the same name of each unit in Outliner.

eg: I combine some leaves and named it P_33, but P_33 is not in another file which makes errors, so i need to delete it and do the animation for leaves seperately.

3. Parent Constraints cannot be imported into fbx

Solution: Abandon use of parent constraints and re-animate each leaves

4. Do the animation on UNFOLDED model!!!! I animated the model directly after making it, resulting in the model not using the folded UV’s. So I animationed again for the folded one.

5. Rendering time is too long in Maya, so we decide to rendering in C4D and set up cameras and lights

Conclusion: Since it was the first time we worked together, I didn’t know much about exporting fbx and importing into unity at the beginning, which led to the animation being redone and modified many times. After this experience, I hope the next collaboration will be more smooth!

This week the team in charge of making MR started to test and make demos after getting the animation.
